Parenting Our Future

Mar 16, 2021

There are so many families struggling with adolescents with substance abuse issues.  Parents are often caught off guard, confused and don’t know where to turn.

Today, more than 40 percent of seniors and one-third of tenth graders are vaping a substance like marijuana. Twenty percent of teens report abusing prescription drugs like Xanax, Ritalin and Adderall.

My guest, author and addictions councillor, Richard Capriola, has been helping families for over 20 years navigate substance abuse in adolescence.

In this episode, we talk about:

  •       What are the most popular substances being used by today’s adolescents and why
  •       What warning signs should parents know about regarding their child’s substance abuse
  •       How can parents of pre-teens help insure their child stays away from illicit substances?
  •       What should you do if you suspect drug and/or alcohol abuse
