Parenting Our Future

May 4, 2021

Mother-daughter relationships can be so complicated.  Conflict can start in adolescence and last a lifetime.  My guests, mother and daughter, Jennie Marie and Jasmine Nicole have successfully weathered many storms through their relationship and are here to help us have better relationships with our mothers and daughters.

In today’s day and age, moms have to be so careful of the messages we are sending our daughters on the subject of self-love. They teach us how to talk about body positivity and model self-love (which, admittedly, can be hard for a lot of us to model).

Why should you care?  Because we are seeing alarming statistics that show 65% of teens are afraid of gaining weight, 44% of teens skip meals to try to control their weight and by age 6 girls start to express concerns about their own weight or shape.

We have to grow close connection with our daughters so we can have these conversations together.

Our kids are watching so how do you practice self love? how do you model your love for yourself?

In this episode we talk about:

  • How to have a good relationship with your daughter
  • Where to start if you don’t
  • Why the mother daughter relationship is so complex
  • How to send positive messages
  • What to do if we start to notice our girls struggling
